Join the Movement: Advocating for Change after Arrest

In recent news, the arrest of Vivian Augustus has sparked outrage across Indiana and calls for change within our communities. Vivian’s encounter with law enforcement not only shed light on civil violations and police brutality, but it has also ignited a movement towards advocating for justice and systemic reform and the local governments responsible for administering local law enforcement departments.

The incident involving Vivian Augustus serves as a reminder of the injustices faced by many individuals at the hands of law enforcement, and how quickly situations can escalate. This reinforces the need for vetting law enforcement officers to ensure law enforcement officers are of the highest caliber of character. It is a sobering reflection of the need for accountability and transparency, not only by law enforcement but the leadership responsible for them.

As we rally together to support Vivian and others who have experienced similar injustices, it is crucial to join the movement advocating for change. This movement seeks to address issues of police brutality, civil rights violations, and the need for greater oversight and accountability within law enforcement agencies and local government.

One way to get involved is by signing the petition. By adding your voice to the growing chorus of individuals demanding change, you can help bring attention to the need for reform and justice for those who have been wronged.

Email your local town/city councils and demand better training and polices for law enforcements officers!

Show up to town/city council meetings to make sure your voice is heard.

Join the movement today and be a part of the change we wish to see in our world. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that no one has to endure injustice.

Together we can get Justice for Vivian AND JUSTICE FOR ALL

How convenient for his body camera not to be activated. It should be a law that all interactions be recorded and if they fail to activate their camera that they be automatically terminated from their job. It's past time for police to be transparent and held accountable for what they do and for other officers protecting the bad cops. There definitely are more than just a few bad apples. Seems like they are trained to be bad apples and to defend the so called few bad apples. Police rarely protect and serve anymore. Most encounters with law enforcement ends badly for most citizens in some way. The whole group of law enforcement needs overhauling and to be transparent and hel…

All Police Departments should have a rigorous hiring process. I believe being a cop you should possess certain qualities. Clearly this Officer does not hold them. Hence, being let go from prior employment. That should've told this department something. He clearly has issues. In my opinion, being a Police Officer would not be an easy job. There are times to escalate and times to deescalate. Being a man he could physically hold with one hand this very young petite woman. I find it amazing how Vivian remained so calm when he continued to act like a child showing how he can not hold his composure. He would be an embarrassment to any unit.

Somebody really needs to check on that slob's wife and the children he says he has. Cowardly bullies get off on slamming their wives and their own children to the ground, too.

You would think every good cop would want to get rid of bad apples like that, instead of covering for them. Unless the entire department is just as vile...?

It is obvious after reviewing the video that Officer Schimmel forcibly and unwarranted removed the young woman (Vivian) from her vehicle and physically assaulted her by throwing her to the ground and handcuffing her. This aggressive behavior was allegedly due to her taking too long to present her identification. You can see it in the video; she collected her ID and was handing it to him. You can also see from the unedited video of the car dash cam and the service station overhead video that the time was less than 90 seconds after he initiated contact. In fact, it (the ID) was dropped on the ground as he body-slammed her.

Furthermore, Officer Schimmel conducted an illegal search of her…
